Dan Lee was never stationed in Vietnam but spent time on the ground there in the early 1960s. He enlisted in 1958 and was discharged in 1966. He joined the N.C. National Guard in 1984 and served another 9 ½ years.
He attended Cleveland High School and Campbell University.
In 1961-62, he was stationed at Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa. While stationed there, he also served in Thailand and Vietnam. He was a weapons expert.
Exposure to Agent Orange was suspected of being a factor in his illness, which resulted in his death in 2017.
