“Lance Corporal Jimmy Brown was attached to 2nd Bn 9th Marines, Golf Company. The photo was taken in April 1969. This was at Vandegrift Combat Base in Quang Tri Province. This was about two weeks prior to my good friend from Garner, Harold Till, being killed.
“When I graduated in 1969 from good old Garner High, I had no idea what I had gotten myself into. I left Garner as young Marine who was going to fight for my Country and help a people fight Communists. I soon learned that we, the American Soldier, was fighting for each other to get home!”
