Johnny Lassiter was a Garner High graduate who grew up in the Panther Branch community. He played for the Garner Rams high school football team and loved to hunt and fish. He was a medic in Vietnam, but he rarely mentioned his experiences there.
He was working at International Paper when he was killed in a traffic accident on N.C. Highway 50 on Nance Hill.
