Phil Fleming was a member of the 101st Airborne Division. He was killed after helping evacuate wounded members of his platoon. He was awarded a Silver Star, our nation’s third highest military honor, for his bravery and heroism. He spent many of his younger years in Raleigh, but attended Garner High School after his family moved to Garner.
