“Lance Corporal Marshall A. Sauls, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred H. Sauls, Route 3, sustained a shrapnel wound in the right leg on September 3, in Quang Nam Province of Vietnam. He is now receiving treatment at the US Naval Hospital in Guam. LCpl Sauls is a 1968 graduate of Garner High School where he was an outstanding member of the varsity baseball team and a member of the school’s choral group. Priort to entering the United States Marine Corps on December 27, 1968, he was active in community affairs and Turner Memorial Baptist Church.”
“LCpl Sauls has been injured in his leg in Vietnam. He was first put in a hospital in Da Nang, but later transferred to the government hospital in Guam. He called his parents a few days ago an talked very cheerfully so they are hoping his condition is not too serious, and that he will soon be well again.”
